At The Inn

The Inn compound is in the middle of the quaint tiny town of Urbanna, surrounded by shops and restaurants and only a short stroll to the water.  We are spread over three buildings: all of our guest rooms are in our back building, while our main building includes our lobby/living room, our game room and the Rappahannock Room (our event space). It will also include our new lounge and restaurant, which are opening later this spring.

Our luxury spa, yoga studio and sauna are in the building next door to the Inn’s main building - with access from both the Inn and Virginia Street, guests can do everything from sweat their troubles away to experiment with laughter yoga!

Ballgown Barefoot, our home and lifestyle boutique, occupies the front of the building next door. It includes many of our favorite things, both vintage and current — everything from home decor to jewelry to books and lots in between!

the living room

The Inn’s Lobby/Living room, which also includes our check-in desk, is designed to be a space our guests can feel comfortable relaxing in. With a variety of seating areas, it is spacious enough for multiple groups to use it at once.

The living room is open 24 hours a day so guests can enjoy our Keurig machine, which features an extensive selection of coffees, hot chocolate, tea and even cider in season.

Our display cabinets also offer a number of branded Chesapeake Inn items (don’t be shocked if you want to bring one of our robes home!), including some of our most requested amenities.

Our bookshelves include local literature and a library of childrens toys (blocks, legos and magnatiles). We also have a collection of modern and vintage games for families, children and adults.

studio sauna & spa

Our brand new studio, sauna & spa allows us to offer guests yet another way to find their own retreat by the river.

You can book a sauna or a massage, relax in a sound bath or take a yoga or line dancing class.

Our boutique next door offers a selection of inspiring gifts, accessories and home décor.  We also have an extensive book room with current novels and biographies as well as coffee table books and every book about oysters available! Find the perfect gift to bring home or something special to help you remember your time at the Inn.

Our new restaurant and lounge are coming later this spring — get ready for some delicious oysters and MUCH more on our patio or in our elegant indoor spaces!

In the meantime we in Urbanna are lucky enough to have 5 other wonderful restaurants just steps away from the Inn!

the rappahannock room

Our Rappahannock Room is designed to meet a variety of needs. It serves as a second living room for guests wanting a little quieter experience, but it also hosts our signature oyster experiences, group meetings and other classes.

The Rappahannock Room is available for rent for special events; depending on configuration, it holds up to 40 for a seated meal or meeting.

The Conference Room

Our Walter Sams Conference Room isn’t your everyday meeting space – yes, it has a large table that sits 14 and is appropriate for board meetings, private dinners and small classes, but more than that, it is literally a fun place to gather – it has an industrial vibe with high ceilings, brick walls and the Inn’s original garage lamps from when it was a Coca-Cola bottling plant. All those bricks are balanced by the room’s pastel antique stained glass windows from an old church give it a uniquely beachy feel.

 the outdoors

Our Garden is large enough to allow guests to relax – or play an outdoor game of cornhole.  Sit among the hydrangeas and butterflies and read a book or just relax while your children play with our giant yard games.

Use one of our bikes to explore Urbanna’s quiet streets – our stable includes surrey carriages, bikes, trikes and even a tandem bike.  And our kayaks are a fabulous way to explore the Urbanna Creek and the Rappahannock River (luckily we have enough so no guest has ever had to wait to use a kayak!).  We have sit on, sit in, and tandem kayaks.

And remember, guests are never charged for the use of any of our toys:)
